Stone & Setting: -This necklace has a deep blue heart shaped stone layed in a silver star wrapped setting with small stones. These stones do not look to be genuine precious or semi precious gemstones to me, and for the price, I would not expect them to be genuine. Swarovski crystals are man made crystals made in Austria. The “Made with Swarovski Elements” label on the product certifies that the piece was made with authentic Swarovski crystals. The absence of genuine stones does not take away from this necklace - it is still VERY pretty. The back of the pendent has a silver overlay with cut out stars and the words " I love you to the moon and back" cut out of the metal.
Chain & Clasp: The chain on this necklace looks to me like a singapore type chain, which is not considered the strongest style, but I would not expect it to break easily. The opening of the pendent that holds the chain is large enough that, if the chain were to break, replacing the chain with another would be easy. The clasp is a lobster claw type clasp and is one of the most durable clasps and also the easiest to operate. The opposite end of the chain has a built in extender to make lengthening and shortening the chain easy.
Metal: This necklace is a silver color but does not have the 925 marking to indicate that it is genuine sterling silver. For this reason it would not be categorized as fine jewelry but more as costume jewelry. I would not let this keep me from purchasing it though, it is a very lovely piece of jewelry.
Presentation: This necklace comes in a hard cardboard box with a white velvet lining. This makes it very easy for gift giving.
Overall, a very nice piece of jewelry! I think this would make a great gift for women of all ages. It looks much nicer in person than in pictures.
