About this Item

Delicately crafted beading in the silver work lends a sense of finery to these earrings, and natural faceted peridot stones add a flash of color.

The detail in the hand-carved bone faces speaks to the time and care that Buana puts into his jewelry, and white cultured freshwater pearls add a pearlescent touch.

Carried away to peaceful dreams, goddesses are lost in slumber. Buana carves their peaceful features from cow bone and dresses them in .925 sterling silver. Crowned by peridot, they wear dancing natural white cultured freshwater pearl earrings and hang from .925 Sterling silver hooks. The presence of peridot and pearl makes these earrings a great gift for August or June birthdays. These earrings are true works of art.

A jewelry pouch inspired by the unique culture of Indonesia is included with these earrings.

Each product comes with a special NOVICA booklet that helps to bring artisans and patrons closer together with a snippet of information about the creator of each piece and the inspiration behind the item.

About the Artist

Buana (left), the creator of NOVICA Carved Cow Bone Dangle Earrings with Cultured Freshwater Pearls and Peridot, 'Day Dreamers,' puts the finishing touches on one of his other unique, handcrafted jewelry items. Like most people who were born and live in Gianyar Regency, Buana has been surrounded by handicrafts since he was a child. Gianyar is a part of Bali known throughout the world for its beautiful landscapes and exceptional artistic legacy. Handicrafts like shadow puppets made of cowhide, woodcarving and silver jewelry are created there in towns like Tegalalang, Ubud, Sukawati and Celuk. In 1990, Buana decided to learn to craft silver jewelry from a friend in Celuk. He learned it all, from the very basic skills like sanding, polishing and making plates to very advanced techniques. Supported by his family, Buana has continued his profession as a silversmith. "I am thankful to God for giving me such a great gift so I can make a living for my family. Not much, perhaps, but enough for our simple way of life," he says. "Hopefully through Novica I can offer a better future to my wife and two children."

About NOVICA

NOVICA, in association with National Geographic, works together with talented artisan designers around the world to produce stunning, keepsake treasures. Our mantra is to spread global happiness, so rest assured - we’ll do everything we possibly can to ensure you’re a happy customer.

We CONNECT artisans to a global marketplace of socially conscious customers:
Artisans from around the world (many living in rural communities) don't have the means to sell their work on the international market. NOVICA gives them a free platform to do this, and reach customers on a global scale. Our teams of local art experts based in every region, provide artisans with all the backup they need. Buana (pictured above), the master silversmith behind this and many other special jewelry pieces, works with the NOVICA Bali and Java regional office in Indonesia.

We EMPOWER artisans to build a sustainable business from their craft:
We operate a completely transparent system where artisans have all the control. They are free to raise or lower their own prices, can withdraw their products at any time, and can even put their items on sale.

We PRESERVE ancient artistic traditions for future generations to enjoy:
Local sourcing teams in every region are tasked with finding the most unique and precious art traditions around. We look for originality, quality of workmanship, and pieces we know our customers will love. In the past, artists have been forced to give up their art in favor of a more lucrative career. NOVICA allows them to carry on with their craft, as there is now a platform from which they can operate a sustainable creative business.

(1) I'm so glad that I decided to buy them - OH MY GOD! I'm so glad that I decided to buy them, I hesitated and hesitated because of the price, a little pricy for me and I was afraid if they were too heavy and big. not for long I was defeated. Here I am now writing good comment about it after just got them for 20 mins. I was thrilled ,I Love it ,they are really my type.I even hopped on this brand's official website to check more products the other day and I was so amazed by these lil things. I couldn't be happier ,I do recommend this will definitely purchase this brand again!

(2) Beautiful workmanship - I received these for Christmas and absolutely love them. The workmanship is top notch and the materials are of great quality. The silver is beautiful and of a nice weight. The bone carving is smooth and true to the picture. The pearls are natural looking and a nice addition to the overall design. The earrings are about an inch and quarter long and three quarters of an inch wide. They are a nice size without being too large (so the weight is fine to wear all day). I love these earrings and would strongly recommend them to anyone who enjoys having unique earrings.
